![]() OK, it's newsletter time again and I'd like to share my excitement about a number of things! Although we have had a real roller coaster ride of events and circumstances in the last year or two we are still in the boat business in a big way ! I'd like to share what we have going on here in Eastpoint/Apalachicola/St George Island. ![]() DEALERSHIP NEWS We have the whole lineup of Ranger Tugs coming in! We are the newest Sea Ark dealer! We are proud to be a Sundance Boats and Twin Vee dealer. We still love our C Dorys. We are a key [full line] Suzuki and Tohatsu/Nissan Dealer and with great Yamaha and Honda sales and service offerings we are one of the most capable and diverse outboard motor dealers in the country. We have a full lineup of Tohatsu kicker motors available online with free shipping and prices that can not be beat. Our rental business, Apalachicola Boat Rentals, is making lots of people happy and is steadily growing. We will be growing and improving our Marine Retail Store this coming winter as well. With that said lets get started with the news ! ![]() ![]() ![]() The new Ranger Tugs R27 (shown above) is the new star of the show for Ranger Tugs with the blend of easy trailerability and full featured cruising with agility, speed and economy for the travelling cruiser. The key features are the 8'6" beam and ¾ ton truck friendly towing, with almost every amenity you could ask for. A cockpit large enough to entertain as well as fish or dive from, the trademark bow and stern thrusters, and new for the R 27 a flat screen TV standard as well a propane stove and oven, microwave, and 1500 watt inverter charger for quiet cooking at anchor. Solar charging, and new Fusion iPod dock stereo systems as well as a fold down laptop desk in the larger quarter berth. The R 27 features the BY series Yanmar 180 HP diesel and the new Mase 2.7 diesel genset. This is the pinnacle of trailerable trawlers!Available with Wefings designed super sized Float On Tandem Axle Aluminum Trailer at 12000 Lbs capacity, Torsion Axles with electric over hydraulic brakes and all stainless fasteners . ![]() Watch for Wefing's and Ranger Tug at the Tampa Boat Show in September! ![]() ![]() Sea Ark has been making boats in Monticello Arkansas for a long time. Their interesting history is here The brand is as strong and durable as its boats, and is a real asset to Wefings Marine's offerings. They have some great shallow water offerings with both jet tunnel and prop tunnel designs as well as a shallow 3 degree hull form and a 15 degree hull form for coastal and rougher water use. One of Sea Ark's claims to fame is their larger boats. They make 20'and 24' hulls that are very versatile with either bottom deadrise, tons of fishing and/or hunting features or simple durable commercial boats ready for hard work. The choice is yours. And yes, we can get a pilothouse! ![]() By the time you read this we will have our first load of boats (see above) and are looking forward to the great "forever " boats they build and the great quality conscious customers that are attracted to these top of the line boats Let us help you find a durable and economical boat from Sea Ark. ![]() ![]() Wally and the gang at Sundance Boats have been cooking up some really great new boats with some new designs that are very practical and great looking as well. The NX series is coming together and is far and away the best "hybrid skiff" on the market. ![]() ![]() ![]() They are now available in 17',19',21' and a super versatile 25 footer in cool new colors and are Yamaha Power Matched. Their dedication to quality just simply blows their main skiff competitor "out of the water" and puts them a few cuts above in the quality and design categories. We have two as a rental boats and the customers always come back with smiles on their faces and love our B 22 CCR and Fx 17. They are the ones I use to fish when the renters let me use them! ![]() Marc, at the helm of the Sundance 22 ![]() ![]() Speaking of boat rentals...our boat rental program is going strong this summer. If you are planning a vacation with us and don't want to trailer your own boat here, call (850) 670-8100 and reserve one of our rental fleet early to make sure you get the boat you want on the day you want it. Reserving is easy and we will do everything in our power to make sure you have the best time possible while you are in our area. ![]() Twin Vee has been a part of Wefing's lineup for a long time. They are growing again and building a great boat and we just delivered a new 19 Baycat to a Carrabelle customer. It's as nice a boat as they have ever made and still reigns supreme for versatility in these waters in my book . The 22 Baycat is the newest model that does it all. ![]() Twin Vee 22' Baycat It's already a great seller for them and is just a perfect boat for so many uses. Call us for pricing or info. They are rumored to be bringing back a few of the old classic boats like the twin engine 20' and the venerable 26' Weekender. I hope they do as they were two of my favorite models and Roger D. seemed to have gotten it right the first time around ! The new four stroke engine technology has made this possible, with super light and powerful motors available in the midrange and even high horsepower ranges. ![]() Apalachicola , Still the place for seafood: Oysters , Fish and Crab still the best. We test it ourselves! Our beaches, bays and inland waterways are still untouched by the oil spill that has done so much damage to our friends and neighbors to the west. We wish them all the best and hope that the news from the BP Horizon rig site continues to be all good. They appear to have the well capped off and cleanup, while still a long process ahead, seems to be proceeding well and BP is so far sticking to their promise to pay to clean up the mess their accident caused and put things right in the Gulf. ![]() We here on The Forgotten Coast consider ourselves extremely lucky as the currents and the winds kept the oil and oily water well offshore from our beaches, estuaries, and bays. Our oyster beds are as pristine as ever, shrimp are being unloaded and the grouper fleet has lots of open waters to our immediate south to catch and bring home our favorite fish, grouper, to supply our local restaurants. One of the largest seafood houses in the Southeast, Waterstreet Seafood in Apalachicola delivers a supply of grouper, snapper, Tuna, Softshell crabs, Blue Crabs, Golden Tile, Amberjack, Oysters, Mahi Mahi, B-Liner Snappers, Clams, Wahoo, Stone Crab Claws and more; all fresh from the Gulf and our Bay, all unloaded fresh daily from local boats. ![]() If you are lucky enough to live close to us, make a point of patronizing our local restaurants and insisting on local fresh seafood. If you aren't in the area, come on down soon and enjoy our seafood in one of our many restaurants and then have one of our local Retail Fish Markets pack you some fresh seafood for your trip home so you can share the bounty with friends who weren't lucky enough (or wise enough) to make the trip here themselves. So, don't let anything stop you from planning, (check the Beach Reports) or enjoying a planned vacation here in our little corner of paradise. The water sports, fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking, snorkeling and diving are all excellent this summer and our friends in the hospitality business are busy with bookings and reservations, with many new and lots of repeat customers, as our summer season progresses well. Make a reservation as soon as you can and come on down and enjoy our unspoiled natural beauty firsthand. ![]() With the BP Vessels of Opportunity launching daily to go out and patrol the area for the first signs of oil--and thankfully having no sightings in our area--the boat ramp at Ten Foot Hole has been unusually busy lately. Consequently, we moved our Apalachicola Boat Rentals center of operations out to the Mill Pond Boat Ramp, about a mile north on Market Street from the foot of the highway bridge. This is a small boat ramp that gets very little traffic and it is in a beautiful location. It gives access to Scipio Creek, about a half mile upstream from the Apalachicola River and less than a mile from the Apalachicola Highway Bridge and the Apalachicola Bay. It is a concrete ramp with a dock next to it and a gentle creek bank on each side of it where you can safely beach most boats to load and unload. There is plenty of parking for tow vehicles and trailers. The spot is one of the most beautiful anywhere on earth and is always draws many of the "plein air" artists and the photographers who visit us, as well as cane pole fishermen and nature enthusiasts. Our webmaster, Mike Athorn of Captain's Designs, recently shot this sunset scene while standing on one of our rental boats next to the boatramp dock, getting ready to pull out. ![]() ![]() We know that many of our friends from out of town travel with their C-Dory or Ranger on-the-water homes with them. However, a lot of folks don't yet have a fully equipped cruiser home and even when you do, sometimes it is nice to hole up in a special spot for a night or two. We'll bring you a selection of some of our favorite local places to do just that from time to time. Also, if you live outside our area and are considering a new boat purchase, please keep our free lodging offer in mind. ![]() ![]() Indian Pass Campground is at the far western end of Apalachicola Bay, where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico. In the midst of a beautiful, deeply fertile area, full of unspoiled beaches and rich estuaries, there are no high rises here in Indian Pass - just wonderful beaches, succulent oysters, world class fishing and spectacular sunsets. Indian Pass is located in Gulf County, between Apalachicola and Port St. Joe. It's an hour east of Panama City and a half-hour more from the trendy beaches of South Walton (Grayton Beach, Seaside, Watercolor and Rosemary Beach). ![]() You can bring your own camper or R/V and rent a waterfront or interior site for a very reasonable price. If you want a more rustic camping experience you can rent one of their waterfront primitive tent sites, or if you want a bit more creature comfort while enjoying the natural beauty of Indian Pass, you can rent one of their great cabins. You can bring your own boat or Apalachicola Boat Rentals can supply you with one from our rental fleet. There is a sheltered anchorage right behind the campground and we can drop off a boat for you to keep out there for a multi-day or weekly rental so you will have a boat for as much of your vacation as you like. Check their website for more information, pricing and reservations. ![]() Thanks for reading, that's all until next issue. Please come and visit us soon and, if nothing else... We'll See You On The Water! |
